Biggest Frogs of world Are So Jacked That They Can Lift Rocks to Make Their Own Ponds : For best and strongest animal parents ever, Goliath frogs officially get the award.
As per the research recorded in the latest article in the Journal of Natural History, Goliath frogs, which are the largest species of frog, are so powerful that they can make their own ponds for their young by just picking up rocks that weigh approx 4 pounds.
The group of researchers who recorded their findings also got to know that the frogs weigh up to 7 pounds and over 13 inches their bodies reach, not including their legs.
An endangered species, Goliath frogs are found in the African country of Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea too. Scientists also discovered that in the past 10 years, their population has turned down about 50 %, probably due to deforestation and overhunting.
Thanks to their brute power, Goliath frogs have known to be very protective of their young by developing them in ponds away from unsafe rivers and guarding them from latent predators.
The president of conservation group Frogs and Friends and Project leader, Oliver Rödel said in a press release, ‘Giant frogs are the first amphibian species of Africa now known to energetically prepare or even build breeding sites for their young.’
